PEPs and Sanctions for Beginners

Recent world events have put the terms Politically Exposed Persons (PEPs), and Sanctions, in the financial crime spotlight. The risks surrounding PEPs is higher than ever, as is the importance of recognising Sanctions. But even though these terms are often spoken about regarding global conflicts, there is also the local risk that all organisations must be aware of.

This short, beginners level session will explain what PEPs and sanctions are, why they matter, and how they can create risk for any organisation.

Using real-life case studies, learners will gain the confidence to recognise basic warning signs when dealing with PEPs, understand why enhanced checks on them may be needed, and know when to escalate concerns.
